Your savior is born today in David’s city. ![]() In Luke 2:10-14 we read “The angel said, ‘Don’t be afraid! Look! I bring good news to you-wonderful, joyous news for all people. Angels appear again-this time to the shepherds. The months go by and the time comes for Mary to give birth. In Luke 1:26-38, Gabriel came to tell Mary that she would give birth to a son, God’s Son, and that he would rule forever. And yet they were just doing their jobs-they were the messengers of God and they had the best news to deliver. The story would be very different without angels. The shepherds wouldn’t have known to look for the Savior in the manger. Without the angels, Mary wouldn’t have known what was happening. It reminds us of the importance of the angels in the Christmas story. ![]() “Hark the herald angels sing ‘Glory to the newborn King! Peace on earth and mercy mild God and sinners reconciled.’” This is part of a song that we sing every Christmas. Today you will also light the third purple candle, the candle of peace/love. The pink candle is the Shepherd’s candle, also known as the candle of joy. The first two purple candles are the candle of prophecy/hope and the candle of Bethlehem. During the fourth week of Advent, you will light three purple candles and the pink candle.
